Default AvP demo, my thoughts.

Overall I liked the demo. It's only multiplayer, but I do think the campaigns will be GREAT.

If you try to compare it to a game like CoD MW2, the game will feel very stripped down to you. It's not quite as in-depth, what it is however is great fan service to anyone who like the Aliens or Predator films.

I also understand why it's getting some flack for being so/so and i really think they made a mistake in putting it out with Deathmatch only. Deathmatch is not the strength of these games. If you're going to play Deathmatch, at least do Species Deathmatch, nothing feels more wrong then Alien attacking Alien or Marine shooting Marine, etc. Species Deathmatch, Infestation and Hunter modes will definitely be the best.

Some people complained like oh it's so cheap if the Alien gets you from behind you're basically dead. Which i find to be an obnoxious complaint, if Alien did come at you undetected from behind, then yes you would be dead, just like how it happened to anyone in the movie.

I also felt like if you've never played an AvP game before, then you will certainly struggle playing as an Alien at first at least until you get several games under your belt.

Stuff I saw:

Alien -

Aliens do move pretty fast (not as fast as I remember) and it's not terribly hard to move from surface to surface really quickly, once you get the hang of it. Aliens now have the Ability to destroy any lights and stuff putting a room in blackness, which is fairly terrifying for the Marines. They also give Aliens the ability to Hiss, which you can do to really freak out Marine players if you hiding in the shadows, you'll literally see a Marine player like whipping around trying to find you.

Marine -

Marines felt really solid, you start with a Pulse rifle that uses 100 round clips and you have about 300 spare ammo. There is no ADS (aim down site) but you don't miss it too much as you really need to hip fire due to the speed of the aliens. Marines can also heal very easily and Health packs are everywhere. You can also find grenades for the pulse rifle for some newb tube action and really tear Aliens or Preds up.

Marine weapons -

Pulse Rifle - excellent, even better with grenades
Shotgun - tears up Aliens up close
Sniper - hated it, only good against preds
Smart Gun - sweet jesus, you're a 1 man wrecking crew. It locks onto any movement or heat source, all you have to do is pull the trigger and literally chew through people.

Predator -

I didn't get to play as the predator but I did get to pick some stuff up. As an Alien you can see right through their cloaks, as a Marine they are MUCH harder to spot. The shoulder cannon is uber powerful BUT it does target slowly and you can see the Red Targerting laser so you can track where the Predator is standing. I also saw the Disc in action chasing a terrified marine around. And i'm pretty sure I also saw the spear (from Predator 2).

The Trophy kills are pretty amazing, I had my head/spine removed by a predator player. As an Alien, I totally used the 2nd jaws to punch through a Marine's skull, and with a predator totally impaled and lifted him with my tail.

All in all pretty sweet, definitely be some niche Multiplayer, particularly for the modes I mentioned. Giving the attention to detail i saw for each species i think the campaigns will be lots of fun.

yes I already purchased it on steam

I will be happy as long as the single player is fun and the marine levels scare the shit out of me.

I downloaded the demo and i have no clue how to use the controls...lol

took me a while to get the hang of it. Preds just seem too clunky for me. they are best in melee combat but still.

Can someone explain how to parry melee attacks? That is my real downfall....
